CF Lieu Advisory is a solopreneur financial advisory practice serving high-net-worth individuals, based in Malaysia. Like many successful business owners, CF was already investing in paid advertising as a key source of new leads.

“Before I invest more into paid advertising, I want an independent opinion on whether my campaigns are performing well enough — and whether increasing my budget will actually help grow the business.”

That was the starting point. It did not turn out to be the whole problem.

The question beneath the question

From the original client question of “How do I improve my marketing?” to

What kind of business do I want to create?

That deeper conversation revealed three recurring concerns.

Capacity

Grow without becoming overwhelmed

Identity

Remain a valued adviser instead of administrator

Life trade-offs

Protect family time and quality of advice

Two horizons

The engagement needed to address both — in the right sequence.

Now

  • Improve advertising performance
  • Reduce wasted spend
  • Understand revenue contribution

Next

  • Build business visibility
  • Strengthen CRM and data
  • Support growth without increasing owner burden

Following the evidence

We deep dived into the campaigns, channels and audiences data, but

The numbers stopped agreeing.

  • Revenue totals differed
  • Source labels were inconsistent
  • Platforms told different stories

We needed to trace what advertising was producing beyond leads.

We needed to know if the leads were producing revenue and opportunity pipeline. So we had to reconstruct the source of truth.

What we found

Google accounted for the largest identifiable revenue contribution in the normalised dataset, followed by Meta, with other identifiable sources trailing behind.

Relative ranking of identifiable revenue contribution — not exact figures.

Business owners within the T15 segment emerged as the strongest revenue-driving audience. The customer base skewed older, supporting CF’s retirement-focused positioning, and doctors appeared as an emerging segment worth testing with differentiated messaging.

We could answer these questions because we manually reconstructed the picture. The business could not readily answer them from its existing systems.

The visible problem was advertising performance.
The deeper problem was business visibility.

From diagnosis to design

What we could see

  • Campaign performance
  • Audience signals
  • Revenue contribution

What the business couldn't readily see

  • Prospect progression
  • Funnel drop-off
  • Referral contribution
  • Client lifetime value
  • AUM progression

The immediate campaign problems could be fixed. But if CF wanted to make increasingly larger growth investments with confidence, the business needed to become much better at seeing itself.

The solution was not more automation

CF’s enquiry process was already highly automated. The missing layer was visibility, not speed.

Designing around how the business creates value

CF’s practice contained two related but distinct commercial journeys: converting an enquiry into a consulting engagement and developing that relationship into ongoing AUM management. We therefore designed two linked pipelines:

Decision-ready visibility

Processes and reporting should provide visibility to business metrics that provides answers to questions like:

Source

What's actually producing revenue?

Referrals

Who is sending valuable clients?

Opportunities

Where is business getting stuck?

Lifetime value

What is each relationship becoming worth?

Why we didn’t start with AI

Undefined processes do not become more useful because AI is applied to them. They become ambiguity processed faster.

Does better visibility lead to better decisions?

We’ll update this case study when we have enough evidence to answer that.
